Michael Howard Moore, Esq.

Biography

Michael Howard Moore is an attorney with extensive experience representing homeowners and business owners whose properties were damaged by floods, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, viral pandemics and other catastrophic events. He concentrates on helping individuals, local governments, municipalities, and businesses solve serious problems related to insurance coverage issues. He assists in preparing their insurance claims, submitting proofs of loss, and advancing their claims in negotiations, mediations, administrative proceedings, and litigation. He has litigated insurance claims for the historic Louisiana flood of 2016, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, Michael and Florence. Michael currently manages all Business Development for Attorneys and heads up the COVID-19 Business Interruption Task Force for Merlin Law Group.

Prior to joining The Merlin Law Group, Michael worked on large matters for a number of law firms and federal agencies in the areas of insurance recovery, fraud litigation, and financial regulation. While in Law School, Mr. Moore interned for the U.S. State Department, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Department of Defense, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. He attended New York Law School, where he was the 2001 commencement speaker and the recipient of the Dean’s Award for Student Leadership.

Michael’s focus on community collaboration has led him to a number of volunteer opportunities and community leadership roles in Puerto Rico. He volunteers with several organizations including the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Greater San Juan, the San Juan VA Medical Center, World Central Kitchen Puerto Rico and helping organic fruit and vegetable farmers through Finca El Reverdecer in Ponce to rebuild their farms after Hurricanes Irma & Maria. Michael has spent much of the last two years in Puerto Rico meeting with municipalities, residents, business owners and property owners about their claims.

  • Participated in numerous Puerto Rico community meetings throughout the Yabucoa, Guaynabo, Aguadilla, Moca, Villalba, Rio Grande, Santo Domingo, Yauco, Guanica, Adjuntas, Bayamon, Carolina, Ceiba, Caguas, Loiza, Dorado, Fajardo, Humacao, Ponce, Mayaguez, Luquillo, Maunabo, Arecibo, Jayuya, Manatí, Naguabo, Toa Baja, Toa Alta, Cataño, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Culebra, Vieques, Cupey, Rio Pedras, Trujillo Alto, Utuado and the San Juan Metro Areas.
