Micah Cartwright, Esq.

Biography

Micah Cartwright is a native Oklahoman who joined the firm’s Oklahoma City office in 2020. Before joining the firm, Micah practiced medical malpractice defense for several years, where she represented hospitals, doctors, and other medical professionals throughout Oklahoma in cases involving allegedly negligent medical care and treatment. These cases were complex and required Micah to constantly learn complicated medicine to effectively represent her clients. Through this practice, Micah had the opportunity to draft a brief that led to a precedential decision by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Through this decision, the Tenth Circuit agreed with Micah’s position and decided against adopting a new legal standard to decide cases involving medical care rendered in county jails.

Micah decided to attend law school while working as a child welfare specialist for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. As a child welfare specialist, Micah worked tirelessly to thoroughly investigate possible cases of child abuse and neglect and to keep children safe. She also did everything within her power to help families overcome obstacles to prevent future child abuse and neglect. This work provided Micah with a unique perspective on life as well as a high level of empathy for others, which makes her particularly well-suited to help policyholders facing devastating losses.

While attending law school, Micah interned at a plaintiff firm in Oklahoma City where she had the opportunity to work with Merlin Law Group attorneys helping tornado victims who were treated unfairly by their insurance companies. She is thrilled to now be part of Merlin Law Group as an attorney, where she can devote her practice to helping policyholders successfully resolve insurance disputes involving property damage, lost business income, and bad faith claims. She represents clients in all Oklahoma State and Federal Courts as well as Federal Courts in Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas. Outside of work, Micah is a member of the Robert J. Turner Inn of Court Executive Committee and is the Board Chair for the Oklahoma City Metro Literacy Coalition.
