Biography

As a passionate advocate, Emily began her legal career with Merlin Law Group as a law clerk following her 2L year of law school. Originally from Clarkston, Michigan, she moved to Chicago to pursue her legal education.

Emily graduated in 2021 from the University of Michigan – Dearborn with a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business-Pre-Law and a minor in English. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she also received certificates in Advocacy and Child & Family Law.

Having honed her legal writing, research, and advocacy skills during law school, Emily excels at navigating complex legal issues. Her experiences as Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola Consumer Law Review and as a Legal Writing Tutor have given her a particular focus on providing meticulous attention to detail. In particular, her experience as Editor-in-Chief of the Loyola Consumer Law review taught her the importance of advocating for consumer issues within our legal system while simultaneously providing her with important lessons to take with her into practice. Specifically, the value that thorough research can not only bring to producing high-quality scholarly publications, but also to being a well-informed and effective advocate in litigation.  Additionally, as a participant in the Advocacy Mentorship Program, Emily was able to gain invaluable insight into effective courtroom strategies and litigation techniques.

Driven by her passion for consumer law, Emily is dedicated to protecting policyholders from unfair insurance practices and ensuring they receive the coverage they are entitled to. She is deeply committed to advocating for individuals and businesses who face challenges in navigating complex insurance disputes, believing that no policyholder should be denied the benefits they have paid for. At Merlin Law Group, she works closely with her colleagues to fight for policyholders in first-party property insurance and bad faith cases, striving to hold insurance companies accountable and secure the support and protection her clients deserve.
