Shaun J. Marker, Esq.

Biography

Shaun Marker has spent his entire legal career at the intersection of insurance law and the people it affects most. He started on the carrier side—representing property insurance companies and learning from the inside how insurers evaluate claims, interpret policy language, and build their defenses. It did not take long for him to realize he wanted to put that knowledge to work somewhere else. For the past 16 years at Merlin Law Group, he has done exactly that, representing policyholders exclusively and holding insurers accountable to the obligations they accepted when they issued a policy.

A first-generation lawyer originally from western New York, Shaun built his practice around the kinds of claims that are often the most difficult, technical, and heavily contested. His work spans residential and commercial property disputes, bad faith litigation, catastrophic storm claims, ocean marine and inland cargo losses, and, more recently, agricultural claims as a Farm/Ranch Certified Specialist through the Agricultural Claims Association.

Shaun approaches his practice by going where policyholders need him most. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Ian, he was deeply involved in some of Florida’s most hard-fought insurance disputes, working alongside engineers, meteorologists, accountants, and damage experts to build cases for homeowners, condominium associations, and commercial policyholders facing significant losses and difficult claim battles. When Florida’s historic 2026 freeze caused billions in agricultural damage, Shaun was already positioned to help farmers and ranchers navigate claims that many attorneys would never encounter, much less know how to handle.

What Shaun brings to that work goes beyond legal skill. In December 2021, his own home caught fire just days before the holidays and shortly after two of his sons’ birthdays. After nearly two decades guiding clients through the claims process, he experienced firsthand the disruption, stress, and uncertainty that follow a major loss. It gave him something legal experience alone could not: a personal understanding of what clients are carrying when they reach out for help.

Shaun is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review rating available, reflecting both his legal ability and the professional standards he has maintained throughout his career. Based in West Palm Beach, he represents policyholders in complex insurance disputes nationwide.
