Sean Shaw believes in being an advocate inside AND outside of the courtroom. He understands the issues from all sides; as a regulator, as an attorney, and as an advocate in the legislative process. He believes in standing up for consumers. Sean receives great satisfaction helping clients affected by the BP Oil Spill. He finds it very rewarding to assist these citizens with their claims, and believes that they are innocent victims subjected to an arbitrary process and just happen to have an unlucky address.

As Florida's former Insurance Consumer Advocate, Mr. Shaw has made a substantial contribution to Merlin Law Group’s depth of knowledge regarding insurance policyholder advocacy. Practicing out of the firm’s Tampa office, Sean continues to maintain a strong presence in Tallahassee, working hard to ensure that legislation regarding property insurance is fair to all policyholders. Sean’s written and oral advocacy made significant differences in the State’s legislative process. In order to continue that directive he founded an active advisory group, Policyholders of Florida. Those concerned about the future of insurance law from a regulatory and legislative standpoint, seek out Sean to learn more about what he and this coalition hope to achieve.

In addition to his advocating for consumers, Sean enjoys spending time with his three sisters and is very proud of the fact that his father was the first African American Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court.
